The right people will find you
To learn stuff, you just need to ship stuff.

Last week, I joined the High Agency podcast to talk about community-building, startup storytelling, and what it takes to build media that lasts.
We covered a lot:
- Why I started 75 blogs before one (Vancouver Tech Journal) hit
- The turning point that made VTJ more than a side project
- How Overstory is thinking about newsletters, algorithms, and the future of journalism
- Why more founders should stop chasing capital and start chasing customers
- The underrated power of showing up in person—and how we’re betting on events
And at the core of it all: To learn stuff, you just need to ship stuff.
That lesson has stuck with me across writing, building, facilitating deals—and now advising. It’s also why I told the High Agency crew: if I could go back to 2010, I wouldn’t play it cooler. I’d be even more obnoxious about sharing what I was building. Most of it gets lost anyway. The right people will find you.
